Adam!

10 06 2009

Adam and i are just starting to get our breath back after our trip to Olu.  Its been a rollercoaster this year.  I had problems with my original wing – kept collapsing during the exit of all SAT mnvrs.  Actually it was really fucking frustrating.  On the 2nd day Adam and I flew out so i started with a high dynamic SAT – big collapse after the 2nd rotation (i took 3 turns so i had lots of energy) and cravatte which swung me into a spiral .  I managed to straighten up and stall it out.  A normal SAT, same problem no matter how i exited it i got a big collapse.  Not the usual little flutter but a collapse.  Anyway the trip was looking like it was going to be a writeoff for me but on day 6 i managed to get a loan of Mahoneys old Uturn Morpheus proto.  It had fag burns, line stretch but it seemed to fly the mnvrs fine.  So anyway that was that – not the most productive for Adam and I – we trained SAT to Heli on the last days but it was mostly a bag of shit and we are rethinking our plans for next year.

Anyway check out our videos 2009 section I have edited and put some footage in there of Adam doing tumbling to both sides!  Adam was a little disheartened when we came back stating his tumbling was on the side too much..  but  I watched Adam  fly and he flew really well this  year so i put the only snippet of outside footage of our whole trip – Adam practicing switchy tumbles! Check them out – they are nice!

Long live the LCC!

6 06 2009

Well once again the Lakes Charity Classic 09 was a total success!  Despite the atrocious weather, lots of people turned out and had a great time.  Gordy and the organisers went all out this year and and had really organised a beautiful event with live music, helicopter displays, talks with Jocky Sanderson on SIV & Acro, Kitt Rudd done talks on XC,  acro and speed flying displays by Zebur, Gordy, Dan, The Lucky Clowns, Acrozone and us… and of course they had the finest Cumbrian ale on standby!  As usual the beautiful people of Cumbria welcomed us and really looked after us.  I was surprised by the turn out which just goes to show that this event is more than just about the flying and can be a success, even when the weather is shit!

Acro wise we managed an impromptu acro show on the Friday.  Mark the helicopter pilot whisked us up to the top of the mountain and Gordy, Zebur and Dan done there magic on the speed wings.  I was the first acro pilot off (wind dummy) and ended up doing a couple of tricks before finding myself back on the other side of the lake and could only manage a glide back… fuck.   Adam done one tumbling then pretty much called it a day and came down to land (it was that turbulent).  Andre, Simon and Yves decided not to do any dynamic tricks and they all came flying out in a really nice SAT to Heli and Heli.  It was all good and we were happy we managed to entertain the folk in the campsite with some acro.. i think they were more entertained by our ’shitting our pants’ glide out more than anything.

Another success and a great event!  Thanks again to Gordy and all of the organisers for inviting us and our Swiss friends to the LCC.  We love it and it is for a really good cause.. Long live the Lake Charity Classic!

Paratech P720

7 05 2008

Have a look at the new acro wing from Paratech.  Yves Berlowitz was involved with the testing of this wing before final production and here it is, in its final incarnation with Yves flying it on a recent acro tour of Switzerland.  I think this wing is for experienced acro pilots!

Lakes Charity Classic

9 03 2008

The Lakes Charity Classic British Acro Campionships – an event held down in the lake district (funnily enough!) over the last 2 years is happening again this year and encompassing the weekend of June the 6th and 7th. I have never attended any of the previous LCC bashes but I am this year and competing in the ‘British Acro Campionships’. The Acro ‘Comp’ is totally tongue in cheek with kids judging the proceedings! It pisses me off a little though.. I wish in the UK we could pull our finger out and hold something that is at least semi – professional rather than call what is really an Acro show, a competition. Hats off to Gordy and the organisers though for doing something like this and of course, doing it for a good cause. Anyway, it will be a lot of fun I think and a nice atmoshpere with parties and all sorts of shit going on through the day and evening.

Apart from the Acro show there are some Base Jumpers jumping from Tandem, Speed Riding show and the fun XC comp during the day. I am also very pleased that my two bros Yves Berlowitz and Remo Neiderer (the Lucky Clowns) are taking time out of there professional acro tour this year to come and fly and party.. Yeah! Both Yves and Remo had an absoloutely kick ass year in 2007, ending the year with both of them beating some good pilots to take 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Swiss Championships!.. It promises to be a good show! Initially Gordy (the organiser of the event), Yves and myself were looking at the possibility of a helicopter Dbag, but now that is not happening due to CAA regulations. Its going to be fun anyway.. cya there!
